TomTom Go 920T – High End, Worth the High Price?

The TomTom Go Range created so much buzz that users could hardly wait for the next model to be released. The public received their wish with the introduction of the GO 720T. The tradition now carries on with the GO 920T. This portable GPS has now been released in the U.S. to retailers such as BestBuy. However, is this device really worth the high price? Let’s review the features and find out.

TomTom Go 920T

Unlike its predecessor, the GO 920T comes available with a 4 gigabyte flash memory drive. This device is pre-installed with finely detailed maps for the continents of Europe, the U.S. and Canada. Latest additions to the European category include maps in Poland, Russian, the Czech Republic, Slovakian, and Crotian.

This portable GPS can also be used as a storage device thanks to its flash memory drive. Load files from your computer via a USB cord or transfer content such as mp3 files and other maps by way of an SD card. The GO 920T becomes interactive with its voice recording system. You may easily make use of the built in microphone to record your voice for directions and play it back on the 920T speakers. This TomTom GPS also acts as an FM transmitter. This enables you to output songs through your car radio instead of the pre-installed speakers of the GPS system.

The GO 920T is a lot slimmer than both the 720 and even the 910 model. It makes for a rather manageable portable GPS with a 3×3, 4×6 design. At just less than an inch deep, this device can be easily stored into your purse or pocket. The GO 920T is so light it probably weighs less than the typical wallet. This GPS shows its power with a nice sized wide screen. A Lithium Polymer battery keeps you going for at least five hours before a charge is required.

One of the biggest features is the use of EPT (Enhanced Position Technology). This function puts the power into your portable device and goes great length to provide you with accurate traffic info. EPT evaluates the actual position of your PND, even when your GPS has been disrupted or isn’t responding. This assures that you will be able to get the best traffic results no matter where you are.

The GO 920T also comes with Bluetooth capability and a remote control for easy access. The remote’s design is simplistic and works well with your GPS system.

The GO 920 and GO 920T are essentially the same model. The ‘T’ variant is used for orders shipped to the United States. This version of the portable GPS is also shipped with RD/TMC wire ariel accessories in the box; this is required to obtain real time traffic data from the device.

As you can see, the TomTom GO 920T is heavily equipped with reliable features. Though the price may be considered somewhat steep, the quality exceeds it by far. TomTom has used some of the latest technologies to bring you one of the best GPS systems on the market.
